Arrest and charges in murder of retired minister


Fairview Heights, Ill. – A man has been charged in the death of a retired minister in Fairview Heights.

Kevin Coley is now accused of killing Reverend Raymond Trimble after Trimble tried to evict him. Coley lived in a mobile home on Trimble's property.

He's the brother of Trimble's former son-in-law.

Authorities in St. Clair County allege Coley beat Trimble, 67, with a wooden instrument. They also say Trimble was dead for days when they found his body in his house.

Trimble was a pastor at Canteen Church in Fairmont City for 20 years.

Coley was being held at St. Clair County Jail. FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (AP) - Police say a Metro East man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a retired church pastor, the Reverend Raymond Trimble. Forty-eight-year-old Kevin Cooley of Fairview Heights is jailed in St. Clair County. Authorities say Cooley lived in a mobile home owned by the 67-year-old Trimble.
