Senator Bond endorses Rudy Giuliani

Rudy Giuliani

By Bill Raack, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Missouri Senator Kit Bond announced today that he is backing Rudy Giuliani for the Republican nomination for president.

Bond says the former mayor of New York City has shown that he has the management abilities necessary to lead the country.

He says he believes that most Missourians support Giuliani's conservative principles. And Bond played down the differences between the two men on such issues as abortion and gun control.

"There's a huge gap between Mayor Giuliani and his likely opponent on the other side that absolutely minimizes any differences that might exist between him and where I think the vast majority of Missourians are," Bond says.

Bond's endorsement puts him at odds with Governor Matt Blunt, who is supporting Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney in the Republican primary.
