Hwy. 141 reopens in Valley Park

St. Louis – Road crews have re-opened Highway 141 in Valley Park, just two days after it was under about 12 feet of water from the Meramec River.
MODOT's Karen Yeomans said signal switch boxes had to be dried out, and workers used plows to push away the mud.
"Our crews brought out their snowplows as the water was receding," Yeomans said. "Once the water went down completely, they used the plows to scrape up any mud that was on the road."
Yeomans said crews will work nights this week to take down the concrete flood barriers from Interstate 44.
She said the water got close to those barriers, but the Meramec did not rise as high as first predicted.
