Washington – President Bush approved federal financial assistance for property owners in 19 Missouri counties.

Mr. Bush approved the aid after a visit to Missouri Thursday by FEMA administrator David Paulison.

Jefferson, Franklin, Washington and St. Francois are among the counties on the list, but St. Louis County is not.

However some communities along the Meramec River near St. Louis are leaving sandbags up in case the river rises again. Sandbags also remain along part of Interstate 44 in St. Louis County.
