Jefferson City, Mo. – Ameren UE wants to raise electric rates again.
Missouri utility regulators are considering a request for a $320 million rate increase request. It's the third since 2007 from the company.
The Public Service Commission took opening statements yesterday from Ameren and from those who would be affected by the higher rates.
AmerenUE CEO Warner Baxter says the company needs the extra revenue to pay for improvements and higher fuel costs.
Ameren says its rates remain low, and it has helped customers deal with rising prices in the past.
The increases could take effect this summer.
