Hearnes' bust to be officially installed in state Capitol
Former Missouri Gov. Warren E. Hearnes, a Democrat who died in August 2009, will be inducted Wednesday into the state Capitol's Hall of Famous Missourians, where his bronze bust will be displayed.
A ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the chamber of the state House of Representatives.
Hearnes was elected governor in 1964, and is the state's first to hold two consecutive terms. He earlier had been a member of the state House, and then served as Missouri secretary of state. After ending his tenure as governor, he was appointed a circuit judge in 1980, making him the first and only person in Missouri history to serve in all three branches of state government. Hearnes died at the age of 86, and was given a formal state funeral.
