Mo. lawmakers give in to blizzard

One day after deciding to remain in session despite the severe winter storm, Missouri legislative leaders have reversed course.

The House will conduct non-voting technical sessions that only require a handful of lawmakers to attend.

A few committee meetings in the Missouri House are still scheduled to be held Wednesday and Thursday, although members could decide to cancel them.

As for theMissouri Senate, President Pro-tem Rob Mayer(R, Dexter) says they're taking the rest of the week off.

"We have a lot of employees here in the Senate that need to be home and not out on the roads and highways," Mayer said.  "I think there's still gonna be close to 20 senators that will stay here in Jefferson City."

Mayer is one of those 20.  He says they hope to be able to return home by Friday.

Also, Wednesday's State of the Judiciary Address to the General Assemblyhas been canceled.  A spokesperson for State Supreme Court Chief Justice Ray Price, Jr., says they expect it to be rescheduled at a later date.
