Schweich announces new spokesman, Spence Jackson

This article first appeared in the St. Louis Beacon, Oct. 13, 2011 - Spence Jackson, the spokesman for several years for then-Gov. Matt Blunt, has taken on a new job as spokesman for state Auditor Tom Schweich.

Schweich, a Republican, announced this morning that Jackson has been hired to replace Gary McElyea, who has left for a private-sector post. McElyea, who earlier had been the spokesman with Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, had garnered high marks with the Missouri press corps.

The same can be said for Jackson, who also was Blunt's spokesman during his earlier stint as secretary of state.

Said Schweich: "Spence's extensive experience in state government and as a communicator will be a tremendous resource for my office as we continue to serve the taxpayers of Missouri."
