Updated March 27 with details of governor's visit — Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens is returning to Missouri after spending time in Washington addressing a major conference promoting U.S.-Israel ties and talking policy with federal officials, including President Donald Trump.

The Republican governor addressed thousands at the policy conference of the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee, also known as AIPAC. Greitens is Missouri’s first Jewish governor.

Greitens aide Austin Chambers said the governor also attended a bill signing with Trump and met with several Cabinet members, including Defense Secretary James Mattis, Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke and Agriculture Secretary nominee Sonny Perdue.

Greitens’ visit came shortly after the GOP-led U.S. House canceled a scheduled vote Friday on a bill to replace the federal health care law passed under former President Barack Obama. Greitens had encouraged passage of the bill on Twitter.

The trip marked the fourth time Greitens has visited Washington since his January inauguration. Last month, Vice President Mike Pence was in Missouri to talk about job growth in St. Louis and went with Greitens to the Jewish cemetery where dozens of headstones were vandalized.
