Missouri Revenues Continue to Fall Below Budget

By AP/KWMU

Jefferson City, MO – There's still no end in sight for Missouri's financial troubles.

The latest state revenue figures show the state fell another $23 million behind its budget in January. That raises the
projected state budget shortfall to $314 million for the fiscal year that ends this June.

Two of the state's leading revenue sources -- sales and individual income taxes -- both declined last month, compared to the previous year.

Missouri's net general revenues are now running 4.4 percent behind last fiscal year. But the state budget is based on a
projection of 3.1 percent growth.
