Jackson Wants Recount in ESL Election

Former Mayor Carl Officer was elected April 1st to the job he had for 12 years.

East St. Louis, Ill. – The man who lost this month's race for East St. Louis mayor wants a recount. Councilman Eddie Jackson filed a challenge Wednesday to Carl Officer's election victory.

Officer was mayor from 1979-1991; he was voted back into office by just 233 votes. Officials will review ballots from 11 precincts next week.
