Mokwa Will Form Task Force After Weekend of Carjackings

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – A series of carjackings this weekend has St. Louis Police Chief Joe Mokwa promising a task force to look into the matter.

Police say at least some of the violence this weekend was related. One man was shot dead while walking near a park with his wife; the suspects were driving an SUV believed to have been carjacked the night before.

A family from Colorado was shot at when would-be carjackers tried to get their SUV on Interstate 70.

Mokwa says the task force will also look into car break-ins and thefts.
