St. Louis – The Missouri Public Service Commission staff wants the Missouri-American Water Company to lower its rates.
The staff says it intends to file an excessive earnings complaint against the company, which serves customers in nine districts, including St. Charles and St. Louis Counties.
In a news release, the staff says an audit reveals more than $20 million in over-earnings.
A company spokesman says Missouri-American is reviewing recommendations from the regulators.
The Missouri-American Water Company has a pending rate increase case which it filed at the Commission in May.
