St. Louis-area Kidnap Victim Found In Central Illinois

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis – Illinois State Police have apprehended a suspect in connection with the abduction of a 17-year-old girl from St.Louis.

Police say the abduction victim was found safe in central Illinois Friday.

A suspect in the abduction was found at a rest area a mile and a half from where he was pulled over on Interstate 55, near Raymond, Ill. He is now in police custody.

Police say the girl and her boyfriend were driving in the St. Louis suburb of Chesterfield this morning when her ex-boyfriend drove up and fired a shot into their car.

The couple pulled into the City Hall parking lot in Ellisville, Missouri. When the boyfriend went for help, the girl was abducted.

A police alert later prompted an Illinois State Police trooper to stop a vehicle on Interstate 55 about 30 miles south of Springfield. The suspect fled on foot, and the girl was found safe.
