Conceal And Carry Opponents Plan Lawsuit

St. Louis, MO – The lawsuit is to be filed Wednesday (Oct. 8) in state court in St. Louis.

It seeks an injunction blocking the law from taking effect Saturday, and a permanent declaration striking it down.

The plaintiffs claim part of the Constitution dating to 1875 prohibits the wearing of concealed firearms. They also say the new law unconstitutionally imposes a requirement on counties, without providing funding to cover the increased costs.

Among the plaintiffs is Kansas City councilman and mayor pro tem Alvin Brooks, and three Democratic state senators from St. Louis: Joan Bray, Rita Days and Maida Coleman.
