St. Louis, MO – St. Louis County Executive Buzz Westfall has been hospitalized for about a week with a serious infection.
A county spokesman says Westfall was admitted to Christian Northeast Hospital with a chronic back problem, but developed a serious infection.
Council Chairman Greg Quinn is filling briefly as County Executive, but the County charter says the Council must elect a temporary replacement who is the same party. Westfall is a Democrat. Quinn is a Republican.
The council will next meet Tuesday night.
Westfall is serving his fourth term as County Executive. He was first elected in 1990.
