St. Louis, Mo. – McCaskill said Missourians are looking for new, innovative leadership in Jefferson City, adding that government must be accountable to the people it serves. McCaskill stopped short of placing blame for the state's problems on Governor Bob Holden. Instead, she vowed to keep her campaign positive.

"We're in the desert, and it doesn't do us any good to look back and figure out how we got here; we've got to figure out how to get out of the desert. And so I'm not going to engage in negativity," McCaskill said.

McCaskill has raised more than $750,000 in the last six months from Missourians. Her family has loaned her campaign $250,000.
