Jefferson City, Mo. – The search continues for two convicted
murderers missing from the Missouri State Penitentiary.
A prison spokesman said this morning that a search has been completed of the roughly 25 major buildings at the century-old
Jefferson City prison. But there's no trace of Christopher Sims or Shannon Phillips -- either inside or outside the walls of the maximum-security prison.
Spokesman John Fougere says searchers are going over some of the prison buildings a second or third time. They also are looking in air ducts and underground service tunnels.
The two inmates disappeared Wednesday night, leaving a threatening note next to the body of a slain inmate in the prison
ice house where they all worked. Killed was another convicted murderer, Toby Viles.
