IL Lawmaker Wants Lawsuits vs. Fast Food Slimmed Down
Springfield, Ill. – An Illinois lawmaker wants to make it illegal to sue fast-food restaurants for making people obese.
State Representative John Fritchey (D-Chicago) says he'll introduce legislation next year to prevent suits against fast-food chains, food manufacturers and distributors.
Louisiana is the only state that has such a law on the books. Supporters say it would prevent costly and frivolous lawsuits.
Fritchey says he'll call law the Illinois Commonsense Consumption Act.
