Clayton, Mo. – For more than an hour this morning, mourners filed past the flag-draped casket of St. Louis County Executive Buzz Westfall.

Government officials and the general public paid their respects to the executive outside county police headquarters in Clayton.

County employee Antoinette King says she never met Westfall, but found the memorial service moving.

"I think I've learned more about him with this experience because it's allowed me to see everything he's done for the community, and caused it to be a better place. He put organizations in place that we needed in this community, and for that we're all grateful," King said.

There will be a funeral mass Friday morning at 10 at Immacolata Catholic Church in Richmond Heights. The burial is private.
