Jefferson City, Mo. – Missouri Governor Bob Holden signed a proclamation Friday calling on employers to support members of the Missouri National Guard and the Reserves when they're deployed.

Holden asks employers to hold jobs for employees who are deployed, and to give special consideration to veterans when possible.

The proclamation declares next week Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Week.

Congressman Ike Skelton also attended the signing at the Guard training center in Jefferson City that bears his name.

About 5,000 Missouri Guard and Reserve members are on active duty.
