St. Louis, Mo. – Considerable work remains to be done on the Page Avenue extension project in west St. Louis County, with just one month before the controversial roadway is scheduled to open.

The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to open the eight-mile, 10-lane road to vehicle and pedestrian traffic on Saturday, December 13.

MoDot's Linda Wilson says crews are putting the finishing touches on the Missouri River bridge but are rushing to meet the deadline in other areas.

"The main work right now is at the final connection on the St. Charles side. There's still some concrete that needs to be poured in that area. So, they'll be working right up to the end, on December 13th. There's a lot of striping left to do, signs that have to be put up," Wilson said.

The Page Avenue extension is expected to relieve traffic congestion on other highways between St. Louis and St. Charles Counties.
