Tools Worth $20,000 Stolen from Habitat for Humanity

By Tom Weber, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Someone broke into seven big rigs this weekend and stole more than $20,00 in tools.

Habitat for Humanity was going to use the tools to build 20 houses in the Jeff Vander Lou neighborhood in north St. Louis in July.

The site is called Hope Square and was going to be where a so-called "Blitz Build" would take place.

Fax machines, paint, and power tools were just some of the items taken, as well as ladders, wheelbarrows, and other office equipment.

All of the power tools are marked either HFH or HFHSL (the initials of Habitat for Humanity St. Louis).

The burglary happened near the corner of Montogomery & Coleman, just off of Grand.

Habitat is seeking donations of tools or money to replace the stolen goods. People can call 371-0400 for more information.
