Blagojevich Hires Public Relations Firm

Springfield, Ill – Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has hired a public relations consultant to make sure the governor is seen as a leader in human services reform.

The contract also calls for the consultant to promote Human Services Secretary Carol Adams as a visionary and pioneer.

The three-month, $7,500 dollar contract was awarded to a Chicago PR firm.

Human Services spokeswoman Tracey Scruggs says the department is short handed. She says the consultant will be working on several initiatives including promoting the earned income tax credit.

But an advocate for the disabled says the state should not be spending money on improving the governor's image while it copes with a budget crisis.
