Cheney Will Rally in Springfield, MO Today

St. Louis, MO – Vice President Dick Cheney will be in Missouri today (Monday) for the fifth time this year.He'll be at a Bush-Cheney rally in Springfield, Mo. this afternoon.

It's the rally Cheney was supposed to headline 10 days ago but canceled because of the funeral for former President Reagan.

Union leaders in Springfield are speaking out against Cheney's campaign stop.

Members of the Springfield Area Central Labor Council are calling on Cheney to sever his relationship with the Halliburton Company.

They plan to picket outside the Springfield Expo Center, where Cheney speaks to Republican faithful just before 5:00 this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the President's re-election campaign has picked former Illinois governor Jim Edgar to head the President's re-election campaign in that state.

Illinois' electoral votes have gone to Democrats in the past three elections (Gore in 2000, Clinton in '96 and '92).
