Some MO Soldiers in Iraq Couldn't Vote Last Week

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Some Missouri soldiers stationed in Iraq couldn't vote in last week's elections.

St. Francois County officials say they sent 13 absentee ballots to soldiers in Iraq. County Clerk Mark Hedrick says eight of them came back as undeliverable and none came back with votes cast.

State Representative Jim Avery is stationed in Iraq. He says none of the roughly 20 people in his unit got absentee ballots in time to vote.

It's unclear whether the troubles were widespread or isolated. A Missouri National Guard spokesman was unaware of any specific problems.
