St. Louis – St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burke says he cannot remove a former priest from a Missouri treatment site.
The center is near the home-town of a man the priest sexually abused years ago.
Burke says he understands and sympathizes with the man's family. But he says Mark Roberts is being treated by order of a Nevada state judge at a Catholic-run residential center southwest of St. Louis.
The site is not under the St. Louis archdiocese's control.
Roberts pleaded guilty last year in Nevada to lewdness and child abuse involving five teens. He was sentenced to three years' probation.
Last month a judge allowed Roberts to move to the Missouri center, with the understanding that if Roberts gets out of line he'll be returned to Nevada.
