Man Pleads Guilty in Botched Sex Change Case

By AP/KWMU

Columbia, Mo. – A former church minister and Boy Scout leader pleaded guilty Friday to cutting off another man's genitals in a make-shift gender change.

Jack Rogers, of Fulton, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and practicing medicine without a license.

Rogers, 59, was sentenced to 17 years in prison for assault and seven years for the illegal surgery.

The prison time is to run concurrently with a 30-year sentence Rogers was given in April after pleading guilty to child pornography and obscenity charges.

Michael Abercrombie submitted to the procedure about two years ago in a hotel room. He decided to press charges after complications developed.

Abercrombie must have several legitimate surgeries to complete the gender change.
