St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay and County Executive Charlie Dooley tried Tuesday to jump-start plans for a part of Highway 40.
The Missouri Department of Transportation has long wanted to replace 12 miles of the road but has hit many delays. Slay and Dooley said Tuesday they'll do what they can to move things forward.
Most people in the region don't realize the scope of the plans. That's in part because the first shovel won't start digging for at least FOUR years.
But for others, the project has already put their lives on hold. KWMU's Tom Weber prepared this report.
