St. Louis, MO – Several Teamster-represented workers say they will probably not cross picket lines by Machinists Monday morning at several St. Louis-area car dealerships.
Members of the Teamster Local 618 approved a new contract with modest wage increases on Saturday. Several, though, say they'll support the Machinists who still do not have a deal.
Teamsters and Machinists went on strike on August 1 against 61 new car dealerships (all of them are in Missouri except for one in Illinois).
The action has largely shut down parts and service operations for those dealerships.
Machinists remain concerned that some of their responsibilities will be given to less experienced workers who can be paid less.
