Accident Traps Metrolink Passengers; No Injuries

By AP / KWMU

St. Louis, MO – The accident happened around noon Monday. Fifty-nine passengers
were trapped after a backhoe working in nearby Forest Park accidentally pushed a utility pole on top of a westbound train.

The utility pole apparently fell onto electric lines that power the trains.

Concerns about live wires forced authorities to keep people inside until electrical and fire crews gave the all clear.

One passenger was evacuated before the others because of an apparent medical emergency.
