St. Louis, MO – The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Houston Astros Thursday night 6-4 to take a 2-0 lead in their playoff series.
All six Cardinal runs were the result of four home runs, including two from Scott Rolen.
After a brief rain delay to start the game, the Cardinals found themselves trailing 3-0 in the fifth inning. That's when Larry Walker and Scott Rolen both hit two-run shots for the Cardinals to take a 4-3 lead.
Houston tied the game, but two more solo home runs in the eighth (by Albert Pujols and Scott Rolen) proved to be the difference.
The Cardinals and Astros will play again Saturday afternon in Houston.
In baseball history, 61 teams have gone down 2-0 in a best-of-seven series. Only 12 have come back to win.
