St. Louis – Members of the St. Louis city teachers union say they want to see some progress in contract negotiations over the next two weeks.
Local 420 has been working under monthly contract extensions since June while talks continue with the St. Louis School District.
But union president Mary Armstrong says negotiations have bogged down over economic issues. And the union has set a deadline of November 9th to wrap up talks.
"We are aware that there is a law in Missouri that prohibits public employees having the right to strike," Armstrong said. "But we're not ruling out any action that our membership will undertake to try to bring about a just settlement."
A spokesman for the school district declined to comment on the union's contract deadline.
