Chicago, Ill. – Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich defended his security detail on Tuesday, but also distanced himself from it.

Blagojevich says his guards are the ones who make decisions about his protection.

A Chicago TV Station (WLS) last week raised questions about the bodyguards.

The reports likened the guards to glorified chauffeurs, but also noted possible negligence, including drinking on the job and giving friends rides in state cars.

Illinois State Police are investigating. The governor indicated that he welcomes the investigation and is eagerly awaiting its finding.
