Columbia, Mo. – The University of Missouri Board of Curators will hold a special meeting Friday to rename the Paige Sports Arena.

A draft resolution shows that curators will change the Paige Sports Arena to the Mizzou Arena.

But State Senator elect Chuck Graham, who played a role in getting it financed, says he wants to name the arena after former coach Norm Stewart.

In a released statement Graham said Stewart built the basketball program and deserves the honor.

Bill and Nancy Laurie donated $25 million to build the arena, then named it after their only child, 22-year-old Paige Laurie.

On Tuesday, the Lauries handed over naming rights to the university. Their decision came four days after a national news program claimed Paige Laurie paid someone to do her college homework.

The arena is not the only thing at MU named for Paige Laurie. The College of Veterinary Medicine has the E. Paige Laurie Endowed Program of Equine Lameness.
