Jefferson City, MO – Missouri gets its 54th Governor today.
Matt Blunt will be sworn in at noon (Monday) in Jefferson City.
It will be the first time in more than eight decades that the Republican party has controlled both the executive and legislative branches of Missouri government. Matt Blunt will also be the second-youngest Governor in Missouri history.
Monday's events also include a prayer service, a parade, and an inaugural ball. People can also meet the new first couple at the Governor's Mansion.
Meanwhile, the Holden family spent the weekend packing up and moving out. One tradition they added to last night was to carve their initials alongside other governors' initials into a wooden beam in the attic of the Governor's mansion.
