St. Louis – Teachers with the St. Louis Public Schools will vote Tuesday on a contract offer from the board of education.
The vote will come a day before the union's scheduled strike date.
The district says it's offering raises to more teachers than in the original contract offer, and hopes to bring teacher pay into parity with teachers in several St. Louis County districts by the 2006-2007 school year.
But in exchange, the school day and year would be lengthened.
Teachers' pay and length of the school day have been stumbling blocks in the negotiations.
