Filing for STL School Board Races Ends Today

By Tom Weber, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Today (Tuesday) is the last day people can file to run for St. Louis School Board. Three seats are up in April.

As of 8:00 Tuesday morning, six people had filed to run. They are:

- Current Board member Veronic O'Brien
- Former Board President Bill Purdy
- Jennifer Allen
- Frank Kriegel, Jr.
- Monica McNichols-Johnson
- Dan Kinney

O'Brien was appointed to the board by St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay in May after a circuit judge removed former member Rochell Moore. Purdy served 12 years on the board and is a former high school principal. Kriegel is an attorney in St. Louis. Allen is a former attorney and homemaker.

Current members Bill Haas and Amy Hilgemann have said they will not seek re-election. Haas is running instead for Mayor.
