An Interview with Ron Gidwitz

By Sean Crawford, IL Public Radio

Springfield, Ill. – Another Illinois Republican is taking the first steps towards running for Governor next year.

Ron Gidwitz has formed an exploratory committee to gauge support. He's the second Republican (other than Congressman Ray LaHood) to form such a committee.

Gidwitz is a former CEO who also chaired the Illinois State Board of Education until Rod Blagojevich took control of the agency last year.

Since then, Gidwitz has pushed for changes to the state's education funding system.

He told Illinois Public Radio's Sean Crawford that Governor Blagojevich has not addressed the three most important issues of education, job creation, and health care.
