Polish Parish Faces Archdiocese's Deadline

St. Louis, MO – The deadline was set by Archbishop Raymond Burke, who has been embroiled for months in a disagreement with the parish.
Despite a threat that they will be denied Catholic sacraments, board members of the parish said they intended to retain control of the parish's assets.
Burke previously warned the six-member lay board they faced the possibility of a censure known as an interdict. That would prohibit them from receiving the sacraments anywhere.
Archdiocesan spokesman Jamie Allman says Burke was keeping options open as discussions with the board continued.
Allman says the board still needs to change its parish bylaws to reinstate church authority.
