Earthquake Prepardeness in St. Louis

By Maria Hickey, KWMU

St. Louis, MO –

Earthquake experts from all over Missouri spent the weekend at the St. Louis Science Center.

It was the culmination of Earthquake Awareness Week, which marks the region's largest seismic event ever - the New Madrid earthquakes of 1811 and 1812.

Officials say the recent tsunami in Asia has brought more attention to earthquakes. And they hope to seize the moment to make sure Missourians and southern Illinoisans are prepared.

KWMU's Maria Hickey prepared this report.
