Washington, DC – A soldier from Missouri is among the 18 who died last week in a military helicopter crash in Afghanistan.
The Pentagon said Monday that Army Staff Sergeant Charles Sanders, Jr. was aboard a CH-47 Chinook helicopter that went down south of Kabul.
Sanders, 29, was from the southeast Missouri town of Charleston.
It was the deadliest crash for Americans since the fall of the Taliban in 2001. In all, 15 members of the military and three civilian contractors died when the helicopter went down.
