St. Louis, MO – A senior from Parkway West High School was among ten students from around the country honored Sunday in Springfield, Illinois.
Mary Bax, of Ballwin, was one of the winners of an essay contest about the Gettysburg Address. The event was part of festivities for the opening of the new Abe Lincoln Presidential Museum.
The opening will culminate with a dedication ceremony tomorrow that President Bush will attend.
Bax wrote an essay called "The Journey Home." She was among 5,400 entrants from all 50 states and the Distric of Columbia.
Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address on November 19, 1863.
