St. Louis, MO – Saint Louis University said Monday it has chosen Clayco Construction Company to build its new medical research building.
The tear-shaped building will rise 10 floors at the southeast corner of Grand & Chouteau. It will also be SLU's biggest construction project ever.
St. Louis-based Clayco has been a part of a number of construction projects, including the 515,000 square foot CitiMortgage office building and processing center that it built in O'Fallon, MO.
The university has so far raised $28 million of the $67 million needed. It has also bought or acquired all but one property needed for the project. In a statement, the university said that remaining property is under contract and demolition will begin June 2.
A groundbreaking date for the medical research building has not been set.
