St. Louis, MO. – Mayor Francis Slay was sworn in to a second term Tuesday at city hall.
After taking the oath of office, Slay gave an inaugural address in which he pointed to the city's recent successes in redevelopment and attracting business.
With County Executive Charlie Dooley sitting to his left, the mayor hinted at more city-county cooperation, and perhaps a government merger.
"In four years, Charlie Dooley and I may share fire engines, airports, a health district, a bond issue, a tax base, or even an office," Slay said. "Or we may not."
Dooley said later that any city-county reunification could only come after the two jurisdictions show they can work together.
