Springfield, Ill. – A judge in Springfield, Ill. ruled on Thursday that the man accused of shooting a security guard at the state Capitol is still too mentally ill to stand trial.
Derek Potts, 24, is accused of walking into the Capitol last September 20th and shooting an unarmed guard, Bill Wozniak.
Potts was evaluated as unfit for trial last fall, but he's re-evaluated every three months. His next fitness hearing is scheduled for August 17.
Sangamon County Chief Circuit Judge Robert Eggers made his declaration on Thursday based on a report from the state Department of Human Services.
