St. Louis, MO. – Authorities continued their search Thursday for a suspect in the ambush killing of a Kirkwood police sergeant.
Sergeant William McEntee was shot Tuesday night in his patrol car after responding to a call about fireworks.
Police are looking for 19-year old Police Kevin Johnson of Kirkwood.
An uncle begged Johnson to give himself up, saying the family doesn't want to go to two funerals this week.
Relatives say Johnson may have shot McEntee because Johnson was distraught over the unexpected death of his 12-year-old brother Joseph. Joseph died of natural causes earlier on Tuesday.
Relatives speculated that Johnson believed his brother's death could have been prevented, if police and emergency workers responded more quickly.
They said, too, they were sorry about the death of the police officer.
