St. Louis, MO – Family and friends gathered at a St. Louis church Monday for the funeral of Missouri football player Aaron O'Neal, who died after a workout last week.
The 19-year-old linebacker died Tuesday shortly after collapsing during a voluntary workout with teammates. The cause of his death is undetermined, though a medical examiner has ruled out infection, trauma and foul play.
The red-shirt freshman attended Parkway North High School in suburban St. Louis, where he was a four-sport standout, before attending Missouri.
O'Neal's Missouri teammates, coaches and support workers arrived in buses to attend the funeral. Family and friends say they're still having a hard time believing such a vital, athletic young man is gone.
