st. louis, mo – The full St. Louis County Council will consider a proposed smoking ban tonight (Tuesday).
A council committee recently recommended the council pass the ban. But councilman Kurt Odenwald says political pressure is being put on council members to change their vote.
"If those council members who promised me they would support this bill and vote for this bill tonight live up to their word, then we will have the four votes to pass this bill this evening," Odenwald said this morning.
The proposed ban would still not become law if the bill passes tonight because it would still need a final vote from the council and a signature from County Executive Charlie Dooley.
The bill bans smoking in most public places in the county, with exceptions for bars and taverns, bowling alleys, airport smoking lounges, and some parts of casinos.
