Jefferson City, MO – Attorney General Jay Nixon plans to challenge a judge's ruling that a new law regarding strip clubs is unconstitutional.

Gov. Matt Blunt signed the law in July; it was supposed to take effect Sunday.

But a judge ruled Friday the state is only allowed to restrict adults; lawful forms of expression by showing a direct link with harmful side-effects.

Cole County Judge Richard Callahan says the state failed to do that.

Nixon's office said Monday the decision will be appealed.

The law bans full nudity at strip clubs; sets mandatory distances between dancers and customers; and raises the minimum age for both dancers and patrons to 21.
